Why the Title

I began reenacting living history of women and their daily lives over thirty years ago. This included untold trips to the period sutlers (merchants) who set up their wares at events in what is known among re-enactors as "Sutler's Row". In the early years women's roles were not interpreted as they are today. Women were spending a lot of time sitting in military camps not doing very much. In those camps and up and down Sutler's Row I heard one question time and time again. Why don't they have something for the ladies? Out of that one question an idea was born.

"Something for the Ladies" is a small enterprise that I have begun in which I offer interpretations of women at work and play during the 18th & 19th Centuries. This blog is part of the effort to educate and share ideas and thoughts. To all who wish to browse, a hardy and sincere welcome.

Deborah I am so glad you are following my blog. I love living history of the civil war as I do others eras. I plan to keep reading your blog as well! I love the first post! Its so wonderful you want to help other ladies actually be ladies in the living history area. I have seen this need as well and my sister, my mother, and I are trying to pave a way for impressions for ladies as well. We are doing quilting, domestic things such as other sewing, cooking, Lord willing baking, and laundry demos as well. I will be reading!

Oh and be sure to follow my sister too! go here -http://diaryofaseamstress.blogspot.com/
she has done lots of posts about our living history events, impressions, and her sewing endeavors.

God bless!
Rebecca

This sounds like a great idea, I really wish you would keep it up. I do get very bored sometimes at reenactments, I would love to link some of your posts to my history blog if you decide to write more.
